A Great Fall Sweater

Yes, this would be a great fall sweater, but it would be a great spring-time sweater as well, depending on where you live in the country. I made it for Tiffany for her birthday which is in April. They live in the Pacific NW. It's made of a really great suede yarn. So soft and cozy and very warm for those cool nights. This should keep you warm!!

Yes, Another Sweater Done!!

Ok- this is the story. I have a niece, Stacey. Stacey had a baby girl last month. I also have a very cute pattern for a baby girl sweater. Put the two together, and this is what you come up with...a great sweater for a baby girl. I found the cutest butterfly buttons-just perfect, and there are several colors. I can't wait to see it on her, but I wanted to make something she could use in the fall & winter, so it's a little big right now. But I've been told she should fit in it great in time for cooler weather. Enjoy, Fionna!

Another Project Completed

Ok, so I admit this has nothing to do with knitting or crochet. I am working on a sweater right now for Tiff, and as soon as it's completed, I'll post a couple pictures of it.

In the mean time, the kids and I made markers for our vegetable garden. They turned out pretty good, and look much nicer than the package with a stick through it- especially after a couple weeks of watering...

We made them out of polymer clay. (I had lots on hand- I got very ambitious a couple years ago watching The Carol Duvall Show- she had so many great ideas with polymer clay...). Here's the kids running the clay through the machine to get it nice and thin. They thought this was pretty neat.

After cutting them out, inserting the stick, glueing together and baking, they were ready for the names. Bre obliged and did a great job writing the names on them. Brandon even did a couple (with Grandma's help).

Here is Bre placing them in the garden.

And the final product. I think they look pretty nice! And it was a great craft project for us to do.
HAPPY CRAFTING!

More Finished Projects

I finally have a few more projects completed, so thought I'd update the pictures:

This is a sweater I just finished for Su. It's crocheted in one piece. I found the pattern on Caron Yarns website. Be forewarned if you make this: the pattern needed a lot of tweaking to get it to size. I had to go up 2 hook sizes and added rows to the sleeves and body to make it match gauge and fit properly. But it sure turned out nice! And will be very easy to make again, now that I have all the frogging done on this one. I have plans to modify it yet again and make one for Bre in a girls size.

'Auntie' Janet came to visit, and she brought Bre her own digital camera. When she left, she asked me to make her a carrying case for it, so that's what I did. It crocheted up in nothing flat, and would also work great for a cell phone or iPod. Here's Bre proudly showing off her camera case. Now she can take it everywhere with her without worrying about dropping it:

This is a hood I designed and knit in the round with chenille yarn. The pattern is a checkerboard design. Just enough to help ward off the chill of a fall evening. It can also be worn just as a cowl. And it's loose enough it won't smash down your hair.

When Janet was here I finished a pair of fingerless gloves she had ordered. That way she could model them herself!

This is a scarf I made for my son, Joel. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of him wearing it, so we'll just have to use the picture of Mandi. She's always willing to pose...The scarf worked up really great and is a double thickness. It is a stitch I haven't used before, but will use again. Very versatile, the scarf can be made any length you want, and you can add just about any type of edging from everyday, casual fringe to something lacy and fancy.

2008 Recap

2008 proved to be a very busy year for knitting & crocheting- at least in my house! I am amazed at the number of projects I completed, when I sat back and looked. There were 26 scarves, 12 hats, 4 shrugs, 2 pair of fingerless gloves, 2 summer tops, Christmas ornaments, 2 sweaters (which, unfortunately, I forgot to photograph before sending off to their new home) and 2 market bags.

Whew! That's a lot of knitting & crocheting...

Here are some of my completed projects:

I am also just finishing a hood that I designed, which can be worn just as a neck muffler or over your head as a hood. Pictures to follow soon.
My prayer for all of you is a healthy, prosperous 2009!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
